Health & Wellness Reciprocity FAQ
If you are working out of province or under a local other than 1325, 2103, or 2010, please see the following frequently asked questions related to working in another jurisdiction.
Will my hours be transferred to the ACAW Plan Office?
Yes, provided the ACAW Trust Funds has an active reciprocal agreement in place with the Local Union you are working for. A reciprocal agreement allows your hours and contributions to be transferred to the ACAW Trust Funds while you are working in another jurisdiction.
Do I need to do anything to make the transfer happen?
The reciprocal local where you are working may require paperwork to facilitate the reciprocal process. It is recommended that you contact the Local Union that dispatched you or the ACAW Plan Office to confirm if paperwork is required.
When will the Plan Office receive my hours and how are they applied?
Reciprocal hours reported will take longer to be received by the ACAW Plan Office. Reciprocal hours must first be received and processed by the reciprocal local where you are working before they are received and processed by the ACAW Plan Office. Here is an example:
Does the ACAW Plan Office know I’m being dispatched under another local?
No, the ACAW Plan Office is not notified when a member works in another jurisdiction. It is recommended that you contact the ACAW Plan Office via email at info@acawtrustfunds.ca or by phone at 780-477-9131 (option 1) to let us know you are working under another local. This will allow the ACAW Plan Office to review your current hour bank status and monitor that your hours are being remitted in a timely manner.
